Last fall, September 3rd, our air conditioner took its last breath. The repair guys said the compressor was shot, and the whole unit would need to be replaced. Since it was already September and we really didn't have the money after just having the roof replaced, we decided to deal with it in the spring. By the time the spring rolled around, we were being told that the furnace was also on its last leg. So we obtained quotes for both to be replaced. The 10 grandish total was discounted to 8 grand since we were talking about replacing them together.
So other things happened, including nursing school, and we decided that we really could not afford the 8 grand to replace both units. So we thought we could go without AC for the summer, and we would look at it again in the fall...
After enduring record sustained highs for over three weeks now... we had a change of heart. So we had a guy from Sears here today, and he says he fixed it... $123
Hmmm.... I don't know whether to be really happy or really pissed...
