We began celebrating Christmas a week ago when one of Jon's brothers was here for their visit. The kids opened their first present then, a little percussion instrument set from our favorite kids toy designer "Melissa and Doug". This would be the first in a series of similar toys purchased for them by all of their uncles... hmmm sensing a theme... Anyway, then they opened a few gifts from Grandpa on Tuesday, and of course Santa and the Grandmas on Thursday. So last night when Jon took them to bed, it wasn't too surprising to hear Alivya tell Jon that she had to go to bed because "Santa was coming tonight"! Poor thing, we have spent the last few weeks talking about this Santa business, and now that she finally gets it, he doesn't come for another year!
Of course, their birthday falls on Tuesday, so they'll be thoroughly confused. Who brought all these presents?
We had a lovely Christmas though, the kids received so many very thoughtful and fun gifts. For those of you who gave them some, thank you so much. It was really a special year, the first that they have actually understood the concept that presents have stuff in them, and they get to rip off all the paper. Santa brought them new bikes and sleds, both I think they will learn to use better in time.
More later, I am being dragged off to have someone else cook breakfast... so terrible!

I'm so glad you guys had a good Christmas. I love watching the kids as they get older around the holidays. The excitement on their faces is so contagious!
Thanks so much for your thoughts on Dakota's blood sugar. Normally she does snack every couple of hours and her sugars stay stable. Last night she decided to disconnect herself from the feeding pump so she went several hours without food which is how we got into this position. I finally called the endo because she dropped down to 39 and so we're trying a solution now and if it works great, if not we'll stick her on continuous feeds for 3 days. Luckily we do have that option, others aren't so lucky.
